The Dog Training Rehabilitation Programme
About HMP Castle Huntly

The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) is an agency of the Scottish Government. The SPS has responsibility for 13 public and two private prisons. HMP Castle Huntly is Scotland’s only open prison accommodating a capacity of 285 low supervision adult male offenders from any Local Authority area.
Following a robust risk management process and a period in closed conditions offenders can progress to HMP Castle Huntly where the emphasis is on careful preparation for release. Activity focuses on enhanced personal responsibility, job readiness and positive citizenship with the aim of reducing the risk of re-offending and contributing to safer communities.

Beyond the staff commitment and in-kind support through the provision of dedicated training space indoors and outdoors, there is no additional cost to the SPS for this collaborative project.
